Unsold, 2019

Installation

In 2014, I felt compelled by the Romanian cultural context to create art outside of museums or galleries, non-elitist objects that are not necessarily labelled art. I founded Diorama and Colours of My Life, two fashion brands that design limited-edition handbags while incorporating digital art. Some bags went unsold, but instead of discounting them from their original price, as in the fashion industry, the seductive new idea was to bring what people would not label as art into the art space—not something new in art history, but a new experience for me and the public to follow the trail of what they liked to wear and thus discover more.
