Mythologies, 2024
Drawings in Prismacolor pencils, Lumacolor, and pastel on archival UART sanded paper.
The series incorporates specific elements from the Fall into Body project (2023): I drew, photographed, and re-composed the drawings on the computer, cutting and rearranging the drawn elements before printing on paper and drawing over them again.
The project, which began in early 2024, reflects on mythological narratives, symbols, and signs that often undergo transformation, transcending their initial context to acquire deeper layers of meaning. This process of emptying and refilling with new significance allows myths to evolve and adapt across cultures and generations. Myth imposes new meanings by stripping signs of their original significance.
