Playing with the Other Gods, 2020

Acrylic painting and ultra-chrome inks on canvas

Only when art delivers as experience, extending liaisons with truth, goodness, and beauty, does it interest me. I am not intellectual—I am immediate; I do not always understand what I paint; I'm childish—I share my favourite toys with others; we all grow together this way. I exhausted sadness, anxiety, and madness—I'd rather play. At the core of my work is nothing mysterious; is apprehending who I am, how my psyche influences my perception, so I can build structures piercing the sky, then turn the picture upside down and walk firmly on the celestial surface. (Excerpt from Notebooks, January 2020 — A. F.)
