Semioflower, 2022—2020

Installations — Steinless steel, acrylic, silk, wood; paintings — oil paint on Arches Oil paper, mounted on panel.

I wanted to paint a series of random diary entries, easy to read. The Semioflower project began in 2020, and it was largely influenced by my personal journals, Plato’s theories of the sign, and Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis. Reading and journaling are part of my daily life; the quiet repetition of my activities seeks to structure thoughts and bring balance. My notes—my revelations of the artistic creative processes, my constant self-examination—are records of how life breaks in. (Excerpt from Notebooks, July 2021 — A. F.)
